Wiggins Bay has long been recognized as a popular neighborhood. Starting from the 19th Century when some of the first residents of the region settled. Joe Wiggins and Roger Gordon came to this Calusa Indian territory, and developed the first trading post in Naples, growing the region and establishing a prestigious name for the city. Joe Wiggins has been said to have sailed through the inlets and even had the honor of having the Bay named after him. The pass along Port Royal was named after Roger Gordon.
